One observation I've made in this industry, especially on the production side, is that people are extremely close minded about music. Like if I ever said that I liked the Jonas Brothers at work, nobody would take me seriously.

I TOTALLY know what you mean! I listen to everything, even if I don't necessarily love every genre, I can still appreciate it and find something good about it. I do exactly the same thing when I listen. And that's what makes a good producer. It's all about the vision. People think it's cliche when I say music is my life but it really is. It's my number one passion and love. I am so focused that I get super intense and overprotective about it.

AHH YES. Yay! Someone understands me! Haha.

You're being a wee bit rude to a relationship none of us will ever understand, don't you think? ... I mean, it's super unfair to judge. Just let it be. You can be head over heels for someone at any age. You can't speak for either of them.

I’m not trying to be rude. I’m just stating my opinion. No none of us will ever understand it. But I think it’s just a tad ridiculous to be still hung up over it YEARS later. I understand first love and stuff, but stop being miserable and move on. They both deserve to move on and be happy.

I can totally tell you feel the same way. It's nice to meet somebody who completely understands the way I feel. I find it hard to form relationships with people because most of the time my passion for music can be so intense that it turns people away. It's such a massive part of who I am that I don't think I could ever date/be with someone who doesn't share at least a portion of that passion with me. I think this is one big part of why I find Nick so attractive. His passion/drive for music.

YES. OMG. That’s one of the things I love most about him. I just LOVE music. And I love people who love it and understand it in the same way I do. Like when I listen to a song on my iPod, I’m not thinking, “oh, these are cool lyrics” because I usually do that otherwise. Instead I think, “wow, if I were performing this I’d set the stage this way and do these moves and look into someone’s eyes right here, and the lights could look this way” or “for the music video they should do this” or “they should take that out and should have done this instead” or “if I were to cover this, I’d do it this way…” and stuff like that. I mean it drives so much of what I do that, you’re right, it would be SO hard for me to be with someone who doesn’t feel the same way and isn’t as open to new music as I am. I listen to EVERYTHING. Every genre. I try to understand as much of it as I can at every angle and from every perspective. You can always grow and learn more.

And is it just me or like…when you hear people say “oh I love music” you’re just kinda like “you don’t love it as much as I do. You don’t even explore it that much and you’re not open to new things and you just listen to how catchy it is you don’t think about the artist or anything else that went into it”. Like I know that sounds so mean but I’m like. Over protective or jealous when I see that haha. Maybe it’s just me?

is it manageable making a living doing music/tours/crew/managing? cause i've been wondering, it's easy if it's people like justin bieber, taylor swift, fall out boy etc. They're famous and people buy their music without a second thought. But what about people starting from scratch, just out of uni? despite having done music business related courses.

I honestly have no idea. I think it depends what company you’re with and how talented you are, etc. If you do something good, even if it’s an unknown artist, you’ll start getting recognized. And the better you are, obviously the more money you make. It’s a business. There’s the art part of it and then there’s the fact that it’s also a business. So you gotta pick sides or try to do both.

I don’t care how much money I make. I just wanna do what I love and help people. And be creditable enough to vote for Grammys hehe.

That's pretty sweet! They played at the other venue that's the same size as one of mine... So that kinda sucked but it's all good bcuz it worked out anyways. Stage managing is pretty awesome. I love being able to interact with the touring crews and the bands, its great for networking and getting experience. I love production because we are the unsung heroes who make the show happen. I love seeing how happy the crowd gets when they see their fav band get on stage. I was born to delegate haha

Ahh that’s so great! I wanna get into music because I mean. There are SO many ways you can speak to people and help them. I mean sure if you have a lot of money you can donate to charities and stuff. But also the lyrics can help people. The music and the way it sounds. The album art work. The music video. How they perform it live. Looking into someone’s eyes as you perform. The stage design. Meeting fans. Talking to them. There’s just so many ways to inspire them and I want to do that for people just as my idols inspired me. Music is always there for people. It’s a common ground for everyone, no matter what language you speak or your race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, social status, how much money you have, etc.

There’s just something so incredible about concerts. Thousands of people with different stories all come together for one night. They drop whatever else they’re doing and tune out all of their troubles for just a few hours. For a few hours everything is okay. They make friends with strangers they have nothing else in common with aside from loving that band. Fans are all SO different and have different stories and troubles and cliques and stuff and then they all come together and sing their heart out to a song and come together as one with everyone else and wave their hands in the air or scream to relieve stress and just. Feel GOOD.

Music pulls so many people together and it’s just so amazing and wonderful and I want to be a part of that and make a difference in someone else’s life.

I can tell you’re passionate about it by the way you talk about it. I hope you can tell I’m the same way :)

I really hope you guys don’t mind all these asks tonight. I love talking to you guys!!

That's awesome! I love audio engineering and mixing whenever I can. I work at a few concert venues and mostly stage manage so it's always fun to get behind the console. I love meeting other musicians too! Yeah FOB put on an awesome show, I was like 2 people behind the barricade. It was great! I know they did sell out fast, I was online waiting for them to go on sale and I couldn't get them for any of the shows I could go to. Thank God for Stubhub!

Ahh I didn’t even think of that! Grr. Yeah I’m interning at the same concert venue they played at and I get free tickets to all their shows buuuut unfortunately I wasn’t working there yet when they played here :( plus it was in the middle of finals week so the whole thing pretty much just sucked. Bad bad timing.

Ahh how’s stage managing?!

same. i could see a 14 year old writing mushy stuff cause thats what 14 year olds do but she wasn't really 14 when she wrote it sooo.... #awk. and agreed. very, very few people find their soulmate at 14. there are things called first loves and sure thats a huge experience, but a first love is not a soulmate. idk its like someone else said -- how they dont really seem to have anything in common anymore? it will literally be surprise of the year if they date again now that shes single.

I really really hope they don’t. Honestly that’s my most hated relationship of his. They just simply do not fit anymore. And if they already tried it twice, it won’t work again. You know? Been there, done that. Ugh but yeah. They’re still too hung up over each other and it needs to stop. They’re pretty much polar opposites now.

Where are you going to Grad school for Audio Production? University of Colorado Denver has a really good program.

Oh really? I didn’t know that! Right now I’m thinking NYU or Northwestern. Possibly UCLA if they have a program. I haven’t done much research on it yet cause I have a little while to think about it. But I’m so so excited for grad school! I seriously cannot wait haha.

Jun 19, 2013
oh i didnt know that! i never cared for her so i never read her book. that does sound very familiar.... hahahha sos probably is about her then!

Yeah I never read it either, nor will I ever cause I could honestly care less. That chapter was just on my dash so I skimmed through it to try to see why everyone freaks about it and that was all I could think about in addition to “this girl writes very mushy stuff about a guy she dated for a little over a year back when she was 14”. I mean it was just WEIRD. You don’t meet your soul mate when you’re 14, sorry not sorry. Idk it’s just. Really dumb to me.

Jun 19, 2013
did you hear about these girls making a Jonas Girlfriend primer? There is a ton of information about ever single girl (that we know of anyway) the boys have dated....

Uhh. No. But that’s kinda scary. Hahaha.

I think I'm going to the Vegas show. I was just there this past weekend seeing Fall Out Boy and was bummed I couldn't stay Sunday for Miss USA. That's pretty awesome! I'm about to go into my senior year of college for my bachelor of science in music business. I want to go on the road for a few years and then start managing bands and/or work as a music producer. That would be fun! I'm sure your songs are awesome!! I'm better at writing lyrics than music. We should collaborate sometime!

Yes I am way better at lyrics hahaha. And ah that’s so cool! I’m currently a rising junior in electrical engineering and I’m also working on a minor in physics and then I’m gonna go to grad school for music production! Yay! I love meeting fellow musicians. And yes! That’d be so rad!

And ahh Fall Out Boy! I missed them when they came by me :( tickets sold out way too fast.

Looking at the picture of you and Nick, you both seem to be about the same height. How tall are you? And was Nick taller, shorter, or about the same height as you?

Ummm. I really need to measure myself again. But I’m in the 5’7-9” range. Andddd he was about the same height as me but I was wearing boots who had an inch on them and he had flat Vans on so he’s most likely about an inch taller than me. I think.

I meet them at the end of July, so I’m sure you guys will see a pic there too ;)

Yeah I know I'm incredibly jealous of her. She's working for the company that does the meet and greet packages. I would love to hear some lines. I understand worrying about people stealing your stuff. I'm working on a little section in the front of mine to explain who I am and how I've never shared the songs with anyone before, etc.

Ahh that’s sweet. When do you see them? If they take them, let me know! I’m studying to be a music producer. I need my connections haha. I’d love to hear some of yours as well! I’m sure yours are much better than mine haha.

SOS was written before him and miley started dating/met. before the storm and wedding bells is confirmed about her. really hard to say if anything else is because its all so general. im sure there is a personal meaning behind each song for them, but they've never explained them really. i never thought they were allowed to though because disney?

I think it’s just their personal preference to keep it secret as much as they can. Or Nick especially. He likes to keep his private life private as much as he can, and since his songs are about that, I think he prefers to keep his mouth shut. That’s just my thoughts though.

And idk the only reason why I think SOS is about her is because I thought he said he wrote it when he was 14 and that’s when they dated and then I read her chapter about him in her book and she mentioned bringing her friends to dinner with him and then also in that she said “I don’t do handshakes. I do hugs.” And then there’s the line “next time I see you I’m giving you a high five cause hugs are overrated just FYI” so yeah. That was the first time I read whatever she wrote about him and I just thought the stuff sounded veryyyy familiar.

I just think it would be a cool contest, for like a one time thing. Idk... I was maybe gonna bring my notebook and give it to them when I go visit my friend who is on working for their tour. You write? I'd love to hear some of your songs sometime.

Omg that’s so cool. I’d kill to have that job. And yes I do! Thank you! :) I’m just kinda cautious about sharing them because I don’t want anyone to steal them or anything. Buttttt if enough of you guys wanna look at some of my lyrics, maybe I’ll share a few lines :)

Jun 19, 2013
for some reason I've always thought sorry was about miley. what do you think?

Ummm. I never really thought about it?

I honestly just don’t really care for her or their relationship so I don’t really think about it, honestly. Just my opinion.

I think the songs about Miley are SOS, WYLMITE, Before the Storm, and Wedding Bells

WYLMITE can’t be though because that was a song on Nick’s first solo album and that was before he met her. Plus I believe that song is supposed to be about God then they turned it into a love song.

But otherwise I agree. Nothing off It’s About Time though, because again, before he met her.

Do you think the boys would ever record and/or perform a song written by a fan? Or even just like lyrics that they wrote music to...

I wish… I’d be sending them mine all the time. Although I highly doubt it :/
